Rehabilitation
If you need rehabilitation services -- physical therapy, occupational therapy or speech-language therapy -- the SMDC Health System has a therapist to work with you.

We have more than 170 credentialed therapists working in our hospitals and outpatient clinics across the Northland. Not only are we the largest therapy provider in the area, we also have many specialists – therapists with extensive training to address specific problems, areas of the body and even diagnoses.

Your doctor will refer you to therapy and match you with the right therapist to help you recover after an accident, illness or recent diagnosis. We’ll also try to find a location that is convenient for you.

Your therapy may begin while you’re still in the hospital. If you need to continue intensive therapy, you can be transferred to our inpatient programs in Miller-Dwan Rehabilitation Center at SMDC Medical Center. For adults and children, we offer accredited programs for spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, strokes and orthopeadics. The Rehabilitation Center also offers an intensive level of outpatient therapy for children and adults.

St. Mary’s Hospital of Superior and Pine Medical Center in Sandstone, Minn., offer a full spectrum of both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. They also have transitional care beds that can allow you to remain in a hospital while you’re in rehabilitation.
